Spain-Connection goes to Cuba!
An new addition to Spain-Connection,com Tours! An adventure to another Spanish speaking country where Salli Gutierrez, the tour leader, will help immerse you in Spanish language and the Cuban culture! We will meet the locals, learn about Cuban culture, the history, the dance, and the art! The tour will include walking the streets where Hemingway was inspired in Havana, Cuban rumba dance class, enjoying the Contemporary Art Museum and the Holocaust Museum, all in Havana. Then, off to Trinidad for two days, a colonial city, that was once the center of sugar cane plantations. the last day will be spent in Havana, walking the ‘malecon’ the board walk, and enjoying the fine beaches of Cuba.

We will meet in Madrid, be there to see the sites for three days We will taste wine and tapas, and Castilian cuisine along the way! Then we will be off to Sevilla, one of Andalusia’s gems! The old historical center is built with quaint and meandering narrow streets! You can feel the sense of how it may have been in the 1500’s! We will taste the specialties of Sevilla, the Spanish coffee, and wines! The last 3 days of the tour will be held along the sherry route, Jerez de la Frontera, Not only will you visit the sherry ‘bodegas’, where the sherry is manufactured and aged, we will pair the sherries with a special meal. We will eat succulent seafood from the nearby port of Cadiz as we visit the 2000 year old coastal port. Every day will be filled with meaningful activity and delicious cuisine !
Day 1: Arrive in Madrid in morning, walk to the Rastro, Madrid’s oldest Sunday Market, try some Rastro food specialties , rest and free time to get over jet lag !
Day 2: Meet at breakfast, learn or practice some phrases in Spanish, visit the Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum. Yummy Spanish meal and siesta(optional). Walking tour through Madrid Antiguo to Plaza Oriente and Gran Villa. Stops for a refreshing drink or tapa always in the plan.
Day 3: Take Ave (bullet train) to Sevilla. Vamos a tomar las tapas famosas/ we will eat the famous tapas from Sevilla! Pringa! Then Visit the historical sites in the Barrio de Santa Cruz.
Day 4: Sevilla- continuation of more sight, sounds and cuisine of Sevilla.Evening Flamenco show!
Day 5: Sevilla River walk, and lovely lunch alongside river. Free time for shopping! Greatest place for shoe shopping!
Day 6: Take train to Jerez de la Frontera – Settle in hotel, walking tour to old Jerez,
Day 7: Jerez-Tour of Sherry Bodega, Spanish meal with wines and sherry, evening visit to local Tabancos!
Day 8: Day trip to the port of Cadiz
Day 9: Return train to Madrid/ flamenco show with dinner and drinks
Day 10: Visit to Prado Museum/ shopping and our last lovely Spanish meal together!

Day 11: Train to Barcelona – settle in stroll and eat yummy Catalan food
Day 12: Visit some of Antonio Gaudï’s architectural feats! Stroll Las Ramblas to the marina!
Day 13: Vist the Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudi’s unfinished modern cathedral, an absolute must see and do on any bucket list. Free afternoon or hang with me! will will eat more fine food and stroll the city.
Day 14! Hop On and Off Bus tour! We will get off at the Joan Miró Museum, to enjoy the lovely view of Barcelona, the whimsical art work of Joan Miró, and a lovely lunch in the Museum restaurant. We will finish the nightie the Gothic Area of Barca, to wrap up our trip with a delicious Spanish meal!
Day 15: Fly home or to another destination!

Spend Thanksgiving in Madrid taking Flamenco class at the famous studio, Amor de Dios, going to Flamenco shows, enjoying the Spanish cuisine and wine! After class you will be guided through the streets of Madrid, to see the most historical sites, oldest bars where the bullfighters used to hang out, shop for your Flamenco costumes and shoes, and more! This is an opportunity of a lifetime to study with Paloma Gomez, formerly a dancer with the Ballet Nacional de España, and now a solo artist and actor in Spanish cinema. During the week, she will take the group to a private ‘invitation only visit’ to see a rehearsal of the Ballet Nacional de España, and meets its director! This trip is a fantastic way to enter into the real Flamenco scene in the vibrant city of Madrid!
***If you are not a dancer, you may observe the class. Spain-Connection can also arrange other private lessons such as palmas, cant and/or guitar for an additional fee.
